To install matlab from mathworks.com they give you a JNLP file. I had problems intalling in linux, similar problem is mention HERE when using java.
To run in Fedora 16 I have use javaws.itweb
$javaws.itweb download_agent
After this the installing process began, and then it has started to download matlab.
